Some Numbers

Lots of people ask me how well WOD sells, and I usually I just say “about 20 to 30 per day.” This was really just a sense that I had, looking at the numbers every day. But it’s pretty much true: here is a spreadsheet that sums up the gamut of WOD’s sales each month. It does look like sales are softening a little, maybe just because lots of people bought the app because they had their New Year’s resolution to work out, joined CrossFit, and saw the app on the store.

WOD 1.3.2 submitted

The 1.3 release had a couple of bugs, it turns out. I’ve just submitted version 1.3.2 (1.3.1 you ask? These aren’t the droids you’re looking for. Move along) to the app store. This release fixes a crash that would happen if you selected a custom workout that had an empty description, and fixes a couple of minor issues with the editor layouts, and issues with scrolling views that have embedded web views in them.

The good-ish news is that more than 1000 people updated the app in the first two days the new version was out! Sales have almost broken 6000 total, which we’ll probably do by the end of May if things go the way they usually do. I personally think it’s great that at least one sixth of people who downloaded it still have it on their phones, and are so on top of things that they updated it immediately!

WOD 1.3 Submitted

WOD 1.3 has just been submitted to the App Store, and is waiting for review.

What’s new in this version? Not a lot:

  • The workouts and movements tabs now let you add and edit custom workouts and movements.

  • Bug fixes.

This was a big feature that I put off for a while, and it’s one that a lot of people have been asking for, both in reviews of the app (most of which say, “it’d be perfect if…”) and in private email.

Hopefully, time permitting, I’ll start next on version 2.0, which is going to go along with a version of the app for the iPad. I have some cool things planned for the iPad version, and the companion iPhone version, so watch this space.

Hello, World!

This is the first post for the Modal Domains weblog, where I’ll be writing about the various projects I have going on.

The one you may have already heard of is WOD, a CrossFit workout tracker for the iPhone and iPod Touch. I’ve been working when I can on WOD, and will have more time to devote to it soon, so you’ll see an update about WOD first!
